What is Type 2 Diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is the most common form of diabetes & is a chronic disease classified by elevated levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood. It occurs when the body either can’t make enough insulin or the insulin that is being produced isn’t working efficiently or effectively.

Who is suitable for diabetes programs at Flex Out Physiotherapy?

Anyone who has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes & is under the care of a GP or diabetes educator. Our Healthy Diabetes Exercise & Education Program is flexible & tailored to suit your individual needs. It includes a combination of aerobic & resistance based exercises as well as balance & flexibility exercises to help improve your overall exercise ability & capacity.

Frequently asked questions


Are there any subsidies available?

Yes. If you are registered with the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS), you may be eligible for a state funded program. Medicare also offers funding under the Type 2 Diabetes Group Services referral (item number 81100 to 81125).

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

No, however access to the Medicare funded programs, a doctor’s referral is required. To check eligibility, speak to your doctor about accessing a Type 2 Diabetes Group Services Referral (item number 81100 to 81125).

Is there a cancellation policy?

At Flex Out Physiotherapy, we understand people get busy & from time to time, emergencies come up & things change. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call us as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment. For group classes, we require a minimum of eight-hours notice prior to your appointment so we can have time to offer your appointment to someone else.

What do the group sessions involve?

Once weekly group exercise sessions. These classes are run by our AEPs and go for 60 minutes. All exercises can be modified for individual abilities.

Do I need to book in?

Yes, both individual & group bookings are essential.
