What is the Healthy Diabetics Program?
Regular exercise and healthy eating are key components in helping you better manage your diabetes and improve your general health and wellbeing. The Healthy Diabetics Exercise and Education Program is funded entirely by Medicare and is available to all persons with type 2 diabetes, on referral from a GP. These group services are in addition to the five individual allied health services available to eligible clients who have a chronic or terminal condition (usually referred to as the Medicare EPC Program). There will be no out-of-pocket cost.
What does the program involve?
The program involves an initial 1:1 assessment consultation with an accredited exercise physiologist and 8, 1 hour group exercise and education sessions.
What is the cost of the program?
FREE! The sessions are bulk billed direct to Medicare provided you are eligible and have a current referral from your GP. Additional sessions available and claimable on private health funds.
