Why Active Ageing?
At least one in three people aged over 65 will fall every year. Falls are the leading cause of injury related death & hospitalisation in this age group. Evidence shows that if you keep physically fit by exercising regularly, you increase your chances of living a healthier life – feeling well, looking well, staying mobile & independent. The Flex Out Physiotherapy Active Ageing program encourage elderly people to keep active with sensible exercises top suit their age & physical condition. Age is no barrier! Research has shown that exercise is beneficial at preventing falls at any age.
Benefits of Active Ageing
Staying active is the single most important thing we can do to prevent falls & remain independent. By keeping active, we can reduce your risk of falling by participating in activities that increase our strength & improve our balance. Attending an Active Ageing class is a great way to remain active & independent in a safe & supervised environment. This will enable you to continue to do the things you want to do such as getting out of a chair easily or working in the garden.

Do I need an assessment prior to commencing the class?
Yes. It will be conducted before you begin the group classes & will allow the therapist to gain an understanding of your goals & capabilities.
What is the cost of an Active Ageing class?
For private clients, per session packages are available. Please contact your nearest clinic directly to find out the cost of each location.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No. In Australia accredited exercise physiologists and physiotherapists are first contact practitioners, so a referral is not required to attend for treatment. However, a doctor’s referral may be recommended for participants with particular health conditions.
Are Flex Out Physiotherapy preferred providers to any private health fund?
Yes. Flex Out Physiotherapy are a preferred provider for Medibank, BUPA & NIB private health funds, which provides members with additional discounts and maximum rebates on services
Is there a cancellation policy?
At Flex Out Physiotherapy, we understand people get busy & from time to time, emergencies come up & things change. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call us as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment.
