Jessica Laws


Jessica Laws has had phenomenal success in her chosen sport of Track Cycling. In 2008 and 2009 she was the World Masters sprint, time trial and points champion, and was rewarded by being named the Australian Masters Female Track Cyclist of the Year. Other highlights have included World Masters time trial world records (30-34 and 34-39 years), gold at the Victorian Masters Championships, Victorian Elite Country Track Championships and the Victorian Elite Track Championships. More recently Jess was named the Victorian Female Masters Track Cyclist of the Year (Elite).


Jesse Featonby


As both a gifted triathlete and duathlete, Jesse has enjoyed success in both his chosen disciplines. Most recently, he finished 2nd in the Nailcan Hill Run, first in the Australian U20 Sprint Distance Triathlon and 2nd in the Australian Duathlon Championships. Unlike many of his competitors who have skipped the getting an education and opted against moving into the workforce, Jesse has a Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Canberra and works in physiology at the Australian Institute of Sport as the senior scientific officer of Biochemistry and Haematology. Jesse recently had his first world cup start and can hopefully look forward to many more.


Julie Gollon-Foard




Since 1992 when she first began competing, Julie has had an amazing journey in her chosen sport of triathlon. She has travelled around Australia and the world winning numerous state, national and world titles along the way in all distances ranging from sprint triathlons (750m-20km-5km) to the full Ironman triathlon distance (3.8km- 180km-42km). Of them, Julie rates her greatest achievement as competing in the prestigious Hawaii Ironman - a lifetime goal for Julie. Other highlights on a local scale are her dominance over the past 16 years in triathlon and fun runs in the Albury– Wodonga region with eight Nailcan Hill Run wins, eight Yackandanah triathlon wins and 12 Holbrook triathlon wins just to name a few.


Lachlan Chisholm


A leading junior distance runner in the late 1990's, Lachlan established himself at senior level in the 1500m in 2005 and won the national title. After narrowly missing Commonwealth Games selection in 2006, Lachlan has returned to the track with several good placings on the European circuit, which included a win in Gutenberg and several sub- 3.40 (1500m) and 4.00 (mile) runs. More recently Lachlan place fourth place in a blanket finish in the Fifth Avenue Mile in New York and won gold at the Australian University Games.


Brent Andersen




Brent Andersen has enjoyed outstanding success as a junior middle distance runner. In 2007 he broke a 22 year old record at the Northern Country Regional Little Athletics in the 1500m and had a number of top three finishes in both Victorian and NSW state events. Throughout 2008, his form continued with a second in the Australian National Little Athletics Championships (1500m), and a first (1500m) and third (800m) at the Victorian State Little Athletics. More recently Brent achieved a first (800m) and second (1500m) in the Victorian Youth Championships, and won gold at the Pacific School Games. Brent also finished first in the Victorian Country Championships in the 400, 800 and 1500m events.


Albury Hotspurs Soccer Club


The Albury Hotspurs Soccer Club fields men’s, women’s and junior teams in the Albury- Wodonga Football Association. Since its inception in 1973, the club has experienced great success with cup wins in 1975, 1980, 1987, 1988, 1999 and 2003, and senior league championships in 1987, 1988, 1991, 2000 and 2003.


East Albury Cricket Club


East Albury are currently the premier club in the Cricket Albury Wodonga Competition. East Albury Cricket Club’s most recent list of achievements include:
  • Cameron Shield (Champion Club) Hat-trick (2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08);
  • Border Express Cup Champions (2007/08);
  • Undefeated A Grade Provincial Premiers (2007/08);
  • Undefeated B Grade Provincial Premiers Hat-trick (2005/06, 2006/07, 2007/08).


Albury Wodonga Cycling Club



The Albury-Wodonga region has a very cycling culture - with current club memberships at over 150, and casual group rides regularly numbering 50+. The club hosts several high profile events throughout the year including the Wagga to Albury, the Dean Street Criteriun and the Bellbridge Classic. Check the website for club rider profiles and details of local riders who are name for themselves overseas and in Australia.


Border Track and Field Club


A club devoted to helping others at their achievements with athletics, the Border Track and Field Club has weekly meets at Alexandra Park Albury on Tuesdays (juniors 4.45pm, seniors 6.30pm). It is suited to people 16 years and older.


Murray Youth Ballet


At Murray Youth Ballet children are taught in a caring and nurturing environment by professional qualified staff. Past students of Murray Youth Ballet have been accepted into the Australian Ballet School, Victorian College of the Arts, Queensland Dance School of Excellence, West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Queensland University of Technology, Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy, Gho Academy- Vancouver, Geneva Dance Centre and the American Academy of Dance – Paris. Adam Byles


A former 800m track star, Albury runner Adam Byles is quickly establishing himself as a world class mountain runner. In 2010 Adam finished third in the Australian Mountain running championships, and earned a place in the Australian World Mountain Running team, who competed in Slovenia. Locally, Byles is a past winner of the Nail Can Hill run, FedHill Challenge and Cumberoona run.
